Perform Boot Camp returns this year and we are excited to be back focusing on training and development of skills in performance styles we love. We are offering two different weeks with different focus.
Week ONE : 19th-23rd July – JUST DANCE
VENUE – Mary Magdalene Church Hall, Belfast
This week will focus on continued development of core techniques and performance. Students will experience two very different styles in their movement development and training. The first being Jazz and Musical Theatre and the second being Contemporary with acrobatic dance. Due to the technical level needed, students will have to meet ballet or jazz grade requirements for each half day course as explained below.
Course director Fleur Mellor will be leading the Musical Theatre and Jazz side of the course.
We are currently offering this week as two half day courses to two different ability groups:
9:30am-1pm: A pass in ballet or jazz grade 2-4 requirement at commencement of course* (20 places available)
2pm-5:30pm: A pass in ballet or jazz grade 5 or above requirement at commencement of course* (20 places available)
*We appreciate students may have dance exams between registration of interest and the actual start of the course so, on the registration form we are asking for what grades are expected to have been passed by this time. If any students do not reach the minimum requirement we will use our discretion to decide if they are still able to take part on the course.
Week TWO : 31st July – 4th August – SONG AND DANCE
VENUE – Friends’ School, Lisburn
This week will focus on the development of singing performance and technique with movement. Through high impact practise and choreography, students will be put through their paces challenging their singing styles and performance stamina. Working on contrasting pieces during the week, there will be both ensemble and small group work.
Course Director Ashley Fulton will be leading the singing and vocal aspect of the course and Fleur Mellor the dance and movement side of the course.Course Director Peter Corry will be providing direction for the pieces worked on during the latter end of the week.
We are currently offering this week as two half day courses to two different age groups:
9:30am-1pm: ages 10 to 14 by commencement of course (20 places available)
2pm-5:30pm: ages 15 plus by commencement of course (20 places available)
Here at Perform Boot Camp we feel it is essential every performer gets the opportunity to be seen and heard and to receive individual feedback at the end of the week. It’s one element of our teaching that we feel makes our course unique. This will be a dynamic week designed for those students ready to work and train hard. We believe in teaching students best practise and how to work correctly and safely. The process of putting into performance what you have learned is equally important, which is why on the Friday of each course there will be an informal showing of work in progress to parents/family.
In order to be able to focus on each performer, course numbers are intentionally kept small with a maximum of 20 per course. For Song and Dance these places are on a first come first served basis. For Just Dance, depending on course demand we may decide to hold an audition. Students can attend both weeks as the course content will be entirely different.
MOST IMPORTANT: We want our students to have fun! We believe they can find real personal satisfaction and enjoyment through challenging themselves and pushing themselves further with our team. Our students go home each day energised and inspired to do more, and that comes from the love that we have as teachers for what we do. All of us are passionate and committed to our industries and want to share that to our very best ability.
The course cost for all half day courses is £120
