The Music Box – A Christmas Extravaganza (2011)

The third year of the Music Box saw a big move to a new home, the Theatre at the Mill, Newtownabbey. This was a two year new 400 seater venue that Fleur already had strong links with, having choregraphed productions of Les Miserables and Oklahoma! there.

Moving to the theatre meant that the show had to change to suit a more theatrical environment and exciting changes could now be made with the addition of having curtains, flying pieces and moving lights.

The formula for the show remained essentially the same with Peter Corry leading the adult company, school choirs and younger company members through a brand new production. However, the number of shows had now increased from seven to twelve and so it was decided that two teams of children would be best suited to handle the increased workload.

This led to the creation of the Three Wise Men and the Three Kings (two teams of three) for the choirboys and the creation of two groups of ten ballet girls, the Snowdrops and the Snowflakes.

The number of guest school choirs involved in the show increased from seven to eight and as all these extra company members were added, so the logistics increased!

Some of our choirboys along with Peter went out to Victoria Square to do some singing to promote the show for Alan Simpson (BBC radio Ulster)
