“Not Only Was The Show Spectacular and the performers amazing but your generousity in involving the Mary Peter’s Trust as your charity partner was inspiring. Colin and Gillian were delighted to work with Fleur again and our young people really enjoyed the evening”

Dame Mary Peters

The  Music Box – A Christmas Extravaganza in its fifth year, moved from the Theatre at the Mill, Newtownabbey to a new home at the Belfast Waterfront. Fleur working alongside PC Productions, co-produced this annual christmas event that is now a firm part of the seasonal calendar.

Christmas Lights Switch On

A new experience for some of the cast was getting to perform at the Belfast Christmas lights switch on which took place at the Belfast City Hall. The Choirboys performed ‘Walking In The Air’ and Special Guest Jeff Anderson performed ‘Do They Know It’s Christmas’ supported by some of The Music Box adult cast. It was a brilliant night.

Local audiences enjoyed an amazing seasonal spectacle at the Waterfront. Presented by a cast of over 100, The Music Box featured ballet dancers, choirboys, school choirs, the popular adult company and the stunning candlelit carol procession.

For the first time open auditions were held for the adult company which meant the team was able to find lots more talent across the region.

Everything had to get bigger to fill the Waterfront, going from a 400 seater to a 2000 seater venue was a challenge. So, 10 ballet dancers became 20, 4 choirboys became 12 and the number of guest school choirs per show doubled! The band also increased in size as did the adult company and two special guests Jeff Anderson and Linda John-Pierre were brought in from London’s West End to add to the spectacle.

The set had to increase in size and so did the candlelit carol procession which this year involved over 150 performers in order to fill the auditorium to create a real spectacle.

In order to facilitate the smooth running of the show with it’s larger numbers, extra team members had to be found. These were Nigel McClintock who rehearsed the Choirboys, Ashley Fulton the comany’s Vocal Director who also conducted the carol procession and Company Manager Nick Gingell who has looked after numerous West End casts including Les Miserables and Oliver!

The Charity – The Mary Peter’s Trust Collect Over £1,800!

As a result of a successful partnership working on Mary Peter’s – 40 Golden Years The Music Box chose The Mary Peter’s Trust as their designated charity. Trust representatives helped sell programmes and held bucket collections at the end of each performance and were successful in collecting over £1,800! Dame Mary Peter’s also did her bit, going up onstage and singing a number with Peter Corry and the children of the show.
